Giving Tuesday: Where and What to Donate

Tuesday, December 1st, is Giving Tuesday. This is a day to give holiday food and donations to those in our community who need it the most. Everyone deserves to have a great holiday season, so here is how you can help the Bellevue community this Giving Tuesday!

Where to Donate

If you want to donate on Giving Tuesday, the first thing to do is find a local food bank or meal program. Once you find a food bank, find out the drop-off information, operation hours, and their most needed items to make sure you have everything ready. With COVID-19 still prevalent, some food banks may not be accepting donations, so check to see if they have any information on that before you go. For those in the Greater Seattle Area, here are some locations that you can donate to:

What to Donate

Knowing what to donate is important as some items are acceptable and some are not. Here is a list of items that are perfect for donating this holiday season!

Holiday Items:

  • Boxed Stuffing
  • Instant Mashed Potatoes
  • Canned Vegetables
  • Dry Macaroni
  • Cranberry Sauce
  • Canned Pumpkin

Other Items:

  • Canned Soup
  • Canned Fruit
  • Canned Stew
  • Canned Fish (Tuna or Salmon)
  • Canned Chicken
  • Canned Meats (SPAM or Ham)
  • Canned Beans
  • Pasta (Preferably Whole Grain)
  • Rice (Preferably Brown Rice)
  • Cooking Oils (Olive or Canola)
  • Dried Herbs and Spices
  • Granola Bars
  • Nuts
  • Peanut Butter
  • Shelf-Stable and Powdered Milk
  • Whole Grain Cereal
  • Apple Sauce

Donations are not limited to the items on this list, so make sure to ask your local food bank what they need the most. Many places also accept cash donations. This helps them get food items that are normally perishable. So, food and money donations are both welcome!

Thank you for helping us support our local community; we are proud to be a part of it!
